IB diploma program

IB Diploma Programme

The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme, or IBDP, is a two-year course of study that corresponds to the final two years of Italian high schools or the last two years (grades 11-12) of twelve-year school systems in other countries.

The programme is authorised by I.B.O.  (International Baccalaureate Organization) and the final diploma is acknowledged by universities worldwide and by the Italian Ministry of Education.
Piano didattico

IB Diploma Programme

As for the ICE programme, our IBDP pathway offers two different option, the Linguistic or the Scientific tracks.

Students choose courses in five different areas of study and personalise their programmes by developing three of these subjects more broadly and deeply (HL). These areas include Language and Literature (Italian, English, French, Spanish), Language Acquisition (English, Italian, French, Spanish, German), Social Sciences (Economics, History), Mathematics (Theoretical or Applicative), Sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Environmental Systems and Societies). According to the track chosen students will attend a sixth course: an additional Maths/Science course or a Second Foreign Language. At the heart of the DP programme is the Core: T.O.K. (Theory of Knowledge), C.A.S. (Creativity, Activity, Service) and Extended Essay.

The final qualification

Students are awarded a prestigious diploma, which may be classified as a linguistic or scientific qualification in the Italian educational system depending on each student’s plan of study.  The diploma carries the distinction of being the culmination of a bespoke educational programme and prized by international systems of higher education.

The IB pathway shapes students’ knowledge and provides all the tools necessary to use such knowledge correctly, creatively and effectively, not only in English but also in other languages.
For this reason, the International Baccalaureate Diploma is a qualification in Upper Secondary education that is held in particularly high esteem by the most renowned universities around the world.
MIUR, the Italian Ministry of Education, recognises the IB Diploma as an equivalent to the Italian Maturità, and therefore the diploma also allows students to attend universities in Italy.
