Year 9 in Malta: history, the sea and the islands

The Year 9 pupils have returned from an educational trip to Malta – a five-day trip to mark the end of this school year, filled with culture, discovery and fun.

The programme included a visit to Valletta, with views of the Grand Harbour and St John’s Co-Cathedral, which houses works by Caravaggio.

The pupils then took the ferry to the island of Gozo, where they were greeted by the Ggantija Temples – an archaeological site dating back over five thousand years – and the Citadel of Victoria.

A whole day was spent at Popeye Village, the original film set for the 1980 film, including a tour of the facilities and entertainment shows.

Between one stop and the next, there were plenty of afternoons on the beach, evenings at the bowling alley and other moments of fun together.

All the excursions were led by English-speaking guides, providing an opportunity to practise the language in real-life situations.
