From 7 to 15 November 2026, #ioleggoperché returns – the major book drive for Italian school libraries. Once again this year, the Nursery and Primary Schools at Vittoria Junior International School are taking part in the initiative.
School libraries are essential for sparking a passion for reading from a young age. #ioleggoperché is supported by the Ministry of Culture through the Centre for Books and Reading and promoted in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Merit and the entire book industry: the Italian Booksellers’ Association, the Italian Library Association and the Italian Union of Booksellers and Stationers.
During Donation Week, you can buy books to donate to schools at participating bookshops. For our school, you can choose from short stories, novels, fairy tales and picture books, in Italian or English, with no limits on the number, title or genre.
At the end of the collection drive, the participating publishers will donate over 100,000 books to the schools that have requested them via the portal.
The bookshops in Turin that have chosen to support us are:
The donated books will be the starting point for a programme that runs throughout the school year, featuring read-aloud sessions, workshops and activities inspired by the very stories that will arrive in our libraries.
